Am I better off replacing my 2002 Honda Civic timing belt at 60,000 miles or waiting for a problem?
I took my car in for an oil change and I was a little late, so let me tell you about the store in an oil and air filter new flush. When I got home, I learned that also told I needed my husband to do the same during your oil change last week. I'm beginning to doubt if you are being honest or trying to fill the bill. I also told my husband who was leaking oil in their candles, but was a slow leak so it should put it in the next week for maintenance which they said was "similar to a set-up "and would cost ~ $ 550. so, after working at Pep Boys with a service center for 2 1 / 2 years, taking classes about 3 cars and being with a mechanic in the past seven years, I've never heard of having to do an oil flush unless you put in regular oil instead of synthetic or have a major problem occurs when you have oil coming out (for lack of a better word right now) clots. a few things to take into account 1) oil changes are recommended factory to 5,000 mile intervals, but in fact 3000 will be better for your car - do not freak if you get to 5000 2) if the question what they are doing - make sure you asked! especially with the spark plug issue, ask them how they saw it. did they take out the plugs? If so, you like, ask to see the Autolite (catalog O connecting most other spark) exactly what they're talking about (the catalog are shown images of what the plug should be similar and what other issues appear). if they do not want to show, to leave. 3) check the labor rates in your area. that's where most of their money in the maintenance will be spent. make sure they are charging a fair price (which has been a while since I checked in the states, but two years ago was between $ 75 and 80 per hour). if you think they are trying to screw, you can always ask to see the time when the service manual as Mitchell (They must have a of those behind the counter, although I'm not sure that they are required to show if you ask ... but should be). 4) if at the end you think you are cheating states have this wonderful thing called the BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair). look in your state so you are familiar with the rules (which may be different depending on the state you are in). should see the reaction you get when you say that you feel you need to contact the BAR BAR for violations that the store is doing.
