Ford Excursion - What's coming with me?

I need a bigger truck to fit the wife and children (5 in total), so that each plan of selling or trading in my Honda Ridgeline 2006 and get a better truck. I realize MPG will be smaller and have less burden, but that's something I'm willing to accept for a bigger truck, safer, more comfortable. What if I receive? I do not want to spend over 16k, and I see different models (V10, Turbo Diesel, etc..) TD is faster / more torque? What should I choose and why? Be used as / passenger truck family

Do you really need a truck? A Honda Odyssey easily support his family and has 40 cubic feet of cargo space with all seats in place - and will improve the mileage of your Ridgeline. If you want or need the AWD, Toyota Sienna is available with AWD. If trailer or whatever and really needs a truck, I would look at any of the new Expedition (which is the long version that essentially replaced the trip) or a Suburban - both are much more civilized than the excursion and a comparable space. If you have already committed to the hike, the TD to get the best mileage, but the V10 is probably faster. The advantage TD mileage is also partly offset by higher diesel prices. Most have a V8 there - since you're obviously talking about a used truck, which will be most abundant in the market. I think I covered everything!
