Can anyone recommend a good car?

I am in the process of looking to buy a car, most likely a pre-owned (used), SUV 2004-2005 and up. I am a little shy to admit being a woman, I know nothing about cars other when it's time to have an oil change on the one I currently own. I am looking at Honda CR-Vs since they have a reputation of being a good quality car with a long life span but they can be pricey. I also hear Hyundais are comparable to Hondas but not as expensive. Can anyone give me a few car recommendations or a websites where I can read up on the pros and cons of each car brand/company? Oh I live in Ontario, Canada.
