Honda Reports Record Production Figures

Honda, the second largest Japanese car manufacturer, announced recently the number of vehicles that they have produced all over the world last month as well as the number of vehicles that they have sold. The reports showed that the company has achieved a record breaking number of vehicles produced outside of Japan and all over the world in general.

The company’s production in both domestic and overseas front has increased thus giving the company its twelfth consecutive month of production growth. The streak of record breaking productivity for Honda started in June of 2006.

The company pointed out that they are producing more cars and light trucks in their assembly facility in North America, Europe, and Asia. Aside from recording the twelfth consecutive month of production growth, last month also marked the 22nd consecutive month that Honda has increased production outside of Japan. Last month, Honda posted the highest production ever in North America, the United States, Europe, Asia, and China.

Because of increased production in North America, Asia and Europe, as well as in Japan, overall production for Honda increased for the 22nd straight month. The streak started in August of 2005.

As far as sales is concerned, the company reported that they have recorded a reduced sale for the month of May in Japan. Last month marked the fifth consecutive month that the company saw its sales decline in its home market. The company is yet to record an increased sale in Japan this year.

In the Japanese auto market, the compact multi-purpose vehicle Honda Stream and the crossover SUV Honda Crossroad still suffer from slow sales. The reduced sale of these vehicles played a major part as per why Honda suffered its first decline in new vehicle registrations since March of this year.

The mini-vehicles Honda Zest and Life are also slow sellers. The reduced sale for the Zest and the Life attributed to the third consecutive month of reduced new mini-car registration for Honda.

Last month, the best selling vehicle for the Japanese car manufacturer is the Honda Fit, the award-winning five-door hatchback. The Fit is also named as the third best selling auto model in the industry. Last month, Honda sold 6,077 units of the Honda Fit. The Honda Stream, on the other hand, is ranked as the tenth best selling auto model. In May this year, Honda sold 4,434 units of the Stream.

As for exports, Honda posted an increase last month over May of 2006. The increase in export marks May 2007 as the twelfth consecutive month that Honda has increased its exports. The most notable market that Honda increased its export to is the United States.

The Honda Motor Co. Ltd does not only produce Honda branded cars such as the Fit and the Stream. The company’s luxury division Acura is also included in the production and sales report. The Acura Division offers various luxury vehicles as well as performance enhancing parts such as the Acura RSX coil over suspension kit to their customers.

Honda has more than 120 assembly facilities scattered in 30 countries around the world. This number of assembly facilities has helped the Japanese car manufacturer achieve another increase in production. Aside from cars and light trucks though, Honda is also known for producing motorcycles, ATVs, generators, marine engine, and lawn and garden equipments.
