2010 Honda Insight - Prices to prevail

Rates prevailing in the field of small hybrid sedan, the 2010 Honda Insight new five-passenger hatchback has been dubbed the "affordable hybrid" or "the hybrid for the people" to be priced below $ 20,000 and officially the lowest price hybrid vehicles in the U.S.

Honda warns that some design elements of the very new Insight 2010 model carried over from the original Insight, especially in side profile, while the front-end refers to the company's FCX fuel cell vehicle Clarity. In the Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system, Honda 1.3 liters i-VTEC (intelligent variable valve timing) four-cylinder engine produces 98 hp petrol power and 123 lb.-ft. of torque. Powered by rechargeable nickel-metal hydride batteries that deliver 100.8 volts, the electric motor / generator is rated at 13 horses power and 10 kilowatts. Each Insight is a continuous variable transmission (CVT) and rolls of 15-inch tires. EX models have paddle shifters on the steering wheel. While acceleration and cruising in certain situations, the electric motor adds power to the output of the gas engine. To increase the mileage, the IMA system also provides cylinder deactivation while decelerating, and idle-stop feature when the car is stationary.

An Ecological Support System of the unit, called Eco Assist, you can optimize the operation of the vehicle, according to driving conditions and to provide information relating with the individual driver's style. Pressing the dashboard ECON button throttle control improves the operation of vocational training, inactive window length, and air conditioning operation'all to extract the greatest distance from each drop of fuel.

Front seat side-impact bags air and side air bags are standard. Antilock brakes incorporate electronic distribution of brake force. Achieving 40 mpg on the driving normal is not difficult. 2010 Toyota Prius gets an estimated 51 mpg city and 48 mpg highway.

Prices start at $ 19,800 (plus shipping charges U.S. $ 670) for an LX Insight. The EX edition costs $ 1,500 more, and a former shipping with $ 23,770 going by. For comparison, the new design 2010 Toyota Prius starts at $ 21,750 for the basic model, but the version expected to be more than 22,750 people will label dollars.
