Discount Honda Accessories
Can I negotiate Honda car options?
I'm planning to buy a new honda. I looked on the Honda website and priced some options such as wheel locks. However, when I go on the websites of 3rd party Honda accessory dealers, the same options are sold for at least $50 cheaper. Why is this and do you think I can talk the Honda dealer down and show him the discount prices I found? Or should I just order my options separately and save money that way?
The third party accessories are most likely after market parts that cost less to make than Honda OEM parts. Many of them are made of quality materials. Some aren't. So be careful when shopping for them.
If you want a well made accessory for the lowest price, go with after market parts. If you want original factory accessories, go with the Honda dealer. But expect to pay a lot more.
It may not be wise to show the salesman what you want and what price you want it at. Years ago, when I was a hustling, blue suede shoes type of sales manager at a Toyota store, I always made sure my sales staff would trash after market products. Make them sound like a cheap rip off. Then get you to buy our factory parts which we made a nice commission off of.
Truth was, the accessories we were trashing were actually just as good as what we offered, but at a lower price. A price we couldn't touch. Buy them from a third party and keep them out of the deal. Or you could end up paying for more expensive Honda OEM parts that the salesman talked you into buying.
