America Honda

Honda plans to launch a hybrid or a hybrid compact FIT in the near future?
America needs a compact hybrid! At least yo!
Have you noticed how much a liter of diesel costs? I do not think Honda will especally diesel with the price of diesel ...
Yes they are! The Fit hybrid is supposed to leave for the 2009 model year (late 2008 or early 2009). The basic model will cost about $ 1,800 more than non-hybrids, and are supposed to get to mid 50 mpg! Diesel is very expensive, but I was reading about the MB E320 Bluetec diesel is 23/32 with a twin-turbo V-6. He said that compared with diesel rather than after 50K of city driving, you save $ 2000 but cost $ 1000 more. Perhaps the agreement will save diesel people more money? We'll see when you leave, I heard it for 52 MPG.

Balanced Sourcing: Cooperation and Competition in Supplier Relationships $42.95 Every year, the typical manufacturing company spends 50 to 75 percent of its revenues on outside goods and services. And a dramatic increase in the outsourcing of non-core activities has heightened management's concern with purchasing in the non-manufacturing sector as well. As a result, effective buying has become one of the most challenging strategic issues of the day. In this book, Tim Laseter--of the world-renowned consulting firm BoozAllen & Hamilton--shows companies how to address that challenge through the dynamic pursuit of balanced sourcing. Laseter and BoozAllen coined the term balanced sourcing to describe a model for ensuring competitive pricing from suppliers while simultaneously nurturing cooperative relationships.Drawing upon BoozAllen's experiences with leading companies, Balanced Sourcing lays out the six organizational capabilities that make up the firm's field-tested strategy.Separate chapters highlight key principles for developing each capability and delivering near-term results.Detailed case studies of four prominent corporations-Honda of America, Cisco Systems, SUPERVALU, and Florida Power & Light-demonstrate the broad applicability of the model for companies in industries from manufacturing to services to high-tech. Balanced Sourcing offers real-life lessons from around the world in such key areas as creating sourcing strategies, building and sustaining supplier relationships, and leveraging supplier innovation. Though written for senior executives who want to drive transformation in their organizations, Balanced Sourcing also provides practical advice to purchasing executives who want to understand their role in implementing the best practices of theirprofession. |

Beemer $0.94 Sharp and entertaining . . . Beemerb is a blisteringly funny satire on the acquisitive self, a welcome detour out of the mounting rubble of Terminators, Hulks and Living Histories into the dark heart of the American dream. -Chris Lehmann, Washington Post Gaslin's scorching satire of consumerism hits like a mallet to the funny bone . . . A jolt of pure wicked fun. - - Boston Herald Beemerb is the genuine article; a novel of ideas and comedy . . . what you'd get if Thomas Pynchon and Mark Leyner had somehow been joined at the head. - St. Petersburg Times Giddy, gaudy, inventive, slapdash satire. Loads of fun, often over-the-top, yet in its way as simple and earnest as On the Road. - Kirkus Reviews (starred) Gaslin is officially pledging the fraternity of J.G. Ballard and Chuck Palahniuk, and he's certainly earning his letters . . . A blitzkrieg of sharp, unpredictable consumer satire. - - Seattle Weekly At twenty-five, living (and working) in your Honda Civic may seem like a dead end. But Beemer Minutia intends to make it very big very fast, turning his name into a cash magnet- - a trademark splashed across billboards around the globe: Beemerb. His four-wheeled home is parked in Orange County, Calif., where the constant sun casts an exclusive preview glow on the strange mallscape rising out of the desert around him. The taco stands look like food courts, the gas stations look like movie theaters, and the movie theaters look like small cities whose streets are paved with golden possibilities. Goddammit, Beemer cries, I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't live in a America. Glenn Gaslin has worked in fast food and newspapers. This is hisfirst novel. His journalism has appeared in Slate, Entertainment Weekly and the Los Angeles Times. He lives in Southern California (where else?). |

Teaching the New Basic Skills $44 Fifteen years ago, a U.S. high school diploma was a ticket to the middle class. No longer. The skills required to earn a decent income have changed radically. The skills taught in most U.S. schools have not. Today the average 30-year-old person with a high school diploma earns $20,200, and the nation faces of future of growing inequality and division. Teaching the New Basic Skills shows how to avoid such a future. By telling stories of real people in real businesses and real schools, the book shows the skills students need to get decent jobs and how schools can change to teach those skills. Richard Murnane and Frank Levy begin by describing the hiring processes of best practice firms like Northwestern Mutual Life and Honda of America. In today's competitive economy, these firms search for applicants with the New Basic Skills - the mix of hard and soft skills that all high-wage employers now require. Murnane and Levy then shift their analysis to schools, asking how they can more effectively teach these New Basic Skills. By using case studies the authors show that popular school reform proposals - higher standards, school choice, national standards, charter schools, more money - can only be the first half of a solution to the nation's school problem. When they work as advertised, they force a school to change the way it does business. But each of these reforms needs a second half, a strategy for guiding schools toward the changes that raise student skills. The authors show how that strategy rests on five management principles that focus a school on student achievement. These principles grow out of the experiences of real schools doing the dirty work of educational reform: an elementaryschool in East Austin, Texas organizing low-income Hispanic parents around higher educational performance, an affluent New England community retraining its teachers, the state of Vermont devising new ways to measure the math skills employers require, a Boston high school creating incenti |

The Bridge $15.25 Tommy Thompson recalls with vivid detail the summer of 1967, when he was twelve years old and living in a small town in rural America. At that time in his life, all he wanted was a Honda motorbike, and he believed the smartest person in the world was his Uncle Cletus. The Bridge follows Tommy''s summer-long quest for the Honda and his love, Wendy, whom he pursues with the comical romanticism of a young boy. During the course of the summer Tommy helps his best friend, Booger, cope with family tragedy. He is terrorized by Clyde Goodpasture, the biggest bully in the sixth grade, and the town of Colby is shaken by news that its shoe factory will close. While he isn''t a religious child, Tommy faces these challenges armed with the few Bible verses that he knows and the support of his Christian family. Tommy has a knack for doing the right thing and ultimately makes a sacrifice that shows without a doubt that his heart is in the right place. |
